Import your client list from a spreadsheet

If your clients live in a spreadsheet today, bring them over in one go instead of typing each one.

How to import

1. Go to Clients and click Import from spreadsheet.
2. Download the template, or use your own file — CSV works best (in Excel: File → Save As → CSV).
3. Paste your rows or upload the file. HiveMarket matches your columns automatically (first name, last name, household size, dietary needs, address, phone) and shows you the match to confirm.
4. Review the preview. Rows with problems are flagged in plain English — fix them in the preview or import the good rows and add the rest later.
5. Click Import. Every client appears on your Clients page immediately.

Good to know

• The address goes in one column. Write it the way you'd address an envelope — "123 Lee Ave Apt 2B, Brooklyn, NY 11211" — and HiveMarket puts the street, apartment, city, state, and ZIP where they belong. If your file already keeps city, state, or ZIP in separate columns, match those and they're used as written.
• Dietary needs can be listed together in one column, separated by commas or semicolons ("kosher; gluten-free").
• The import never creates duplicates of itself if you re-upload — matching is by name; you'll see exactly what will be added first.
• Authorizations can come in on the same row (service type, weekly amount, start and end dates, food type). A row whose authorization has a problem still adds the client, and the reason shows on the final screen.
• Every client setting has a column. Beyond name, contact, and address, the template carries: Cell phone, Texts OK? (Yes/No), Language (English / Yiddish / Spanish), Neighborhood, Kosher meat standard (one of the fixed options — a standard means Kosher, so it's ticked for you), Meal plan type (Regular, Diabetic-friendly, Low-sodium / renal, Vegetarian, Halal, Other), Pregnant or postpartum (Yes/No), Stores (the store or stores they may shop from — several separated by semicolons, or "Every store"), Auto-order store (where their automatic weekly order goes), and Automatic weekly orders (On/Off). Store names must match your marketplace's store names — the Import page lists them.
• A row for someone already on your Clients page updates what you fill in — stores, language, referral source, date of birth, and the other settings above — and leaves everything else alone. That makes the import a quick way to move a whole list of clients to a store or set languages in bulk.
